MODERN SLAVERY

At ELE, we believe in doing business the right way. Fairly, ethically, and with total respect for human rights.

We are fully committed to stopping all forms of Modern Slavery in our business and supply chains. We will not tolerate it. Simple as that.

What We Mean by Modern Slavery

Modern Slavery is not just a headline. It is real and devastating. It includes slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. These crimes strip people of their freedom and usually involve exploitation, whether financial or otherwise. It is illegal, it is unethical, and it has no place here.

Who This Policy Applies To

If you work with us in any capacity, as an employee, director, consultant, volunteer, supplier, or service provider, this policy is for you.

Ignoring it is not an option. If you breach this policy, it could lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal or ending your contract. In some cases, it might even lead to legal action.

Our CEO is our Anti-Slavery Officer (ASO) and oversees this policy.

If you are an employee, note that this policy is not part of your employment contract, and we may update it when needed.

How We Prevent Modern Slavery in Our Business

We are serious about keeping Modern Slavery out of our business. Here is what we do:

  • We run proper checks on all employees, recruitment agencies, and suppliers to know exactly who is working for us or on our behalf.
  • Every employee gets a written contract and is paid legally and fairly.
  • We meet all legal obligations on health and safety, working hours, rest breaks, and holidays.
  • All employees sign this policy to confirm they have read and understood it.
  • Managers get training to make sure they know how to uphold this policy.

If You Are a Supplier

We expect our suppliers to play their part too. If you supply us with goods or services, we need you to:

  • Review your own business and supply chains.
  • Confirm to our ASO that you are meeting legal obligations around Modern Slavery.
  • Show that you are committed to keeping Modern Slavery out of your business and supply chains.

We will also need a copy of your anti-slavery policy.

If we find out that you have breached this policy or that there is Modern Slavery in your business or supply chain, we may end our contract and take legal action.

If You Are an Employee or Worker

We need everyone to stay alert. If you spot something that does not seem right, in our business or supply chains, report it straight to our ASO.

Our ASO will look into it and report back to the Board of Directors with any next steps.

We take whistleblowing seriously. If you raise a genuine concern in good faith, you will not face any negative consequences, even if you are mistaken. If you think you have been treated unfairly after reporting something, talk to our ASO. Employees can also refer to our Grievance and Whistleblowing Policies.

At ELE, we stand firmly against Modern Slavery. No exceptions.
